The
35th Annual Norfolk 5 Mile Road Race will again be held on Memorial Day,
Monday, May 27, 2013.Registration for
the Race will begin at 10:30 AM at the ball field on Mountain Road off of Route 272.The Race starts at
12:00 Noon on Westside Road and traverses southerly along a secondary paved and
gravel road to Route 272, then northerly to the finish line at the fountain on
the Village Green.There are seven
divisions of female and male runners ranging from Juniors (12 and under), to
Veterans (60 and 0ver), with a separate division for Firepersons.Prizes will be awarded to the first three
finishers in each division, as well as a prize for female and male finishers
and a special prize for the eldest person to complete the Race.The award ceremony will take place
immediately following the Race.
A
TAC/USA Measurement Certified course, it is timed by Primetime, Inc. of Storrs, CT.An entrance fee of$12.00 for Pre-Registered and $15.00 the day of the race is required from all runners.T-shirts commemorating the 35th Annual
Memorial Day Road Race will be available at registration and on the Village
Green.The proceeds from the race
benefit the “Chief William F. Kelley Memorial Scholarship”, which is awarded to
deserving students from Norfolk by the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department.
